Indianola’s Emily Naughton took him the top prize in the Little Hawkeye Conference cross country meet at Oskaloosa Monday night, as the girls finished in second place overall, and the boys were third. Naughton was the top runner with a time of 19:08, a full 10 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Ashley Rockhold was 9th, Joey Werling 10th, and Bailey Blake 13th to round out the girls top finishers. On the boys side, Logan Hoger put in a time of 17:12 to finish in 4th place to lead the Indians, while Jeb Borgmeyer placed 6th and Curtis Johnson was 7th. Head Coach Kevin Barnes tells KNIA Sports three top 10 finishes is a good sign for the squad.
“Our top 3 were really good. I thought Logan, Jeb and Curtis all ran the races they needed to run, and I was very proud of their efforts.”
Both teams will next compete in the state qualifier next Thursday.
