Longtime Pella Christian Head Volleyball Coach John Evenhouse was named to the Iowa Girls High School Volleyball Hall of Fame.

Evenhouse served as the head volleyball coach at Pella Christian for 22 years before retiring from that position a year ago in 2018. On November 23, Coach Evenhouse will be inducted into the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Volleyball Hall of Fame.

Coach Evenhouse was 555-250-49 as the Eagles head coach, and his teams reached the state tournament 10 times, including four in a row from 2007-2010. Five of those teams finished in the quarterfinals, 4 advanced to the semifinals and his 1995 team finished runner-up. His 1996 team team finished 40-3-3, losing only to the 3A state champion, the 3A runner-up and the 2A state champion.

Coach Evenhouse has coached 11 first team all-state players and 17 2nd and 3rd team all-staters. He was also named as the District Coach of the Year on several occasions.
