The Pella City Council is working to bolster parking in the downtown area. Council received a brief update Tuesday about a project city staff is working to expand the parking lots at the corner of Liberty Street and East 1st. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the city recently acquired the old Second Christian Reformed Church location, and combined with a potential $200,000 expansion of current lots, up to 90 parking spaces could be added to the Central Business District. He says those spots could offset the loss of nearly 80 due to upcoming infrastructure projects near the Oost Poort Alley.
