Recently The Knoxville Lions Club pledged $50,000 to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Foundation. According to Bob Augustin, a 20-year member of the Knoxville Lions Club, the chapter is pledging its commitment to KHC because of the important role the hospital plays in providing quality health care service to the community, especially in the Lions Club’s focus areas. Augustin tells KNIA/KRLS News the decision to pledge the money came about when the club was looking to make a large donation and club member Larry Scott recommended the hospital because of the work the hospital does in the clubs focused areas of the visually impaired, hearing imparied and diabetes. For 100 years, the Lions Club International “We serve” motto has guided the organization’s mission – particularly in its focus areas of improving the lives of the visually impaired, hearing impaired and diabetics.
