The Indianola football team blew out Des Moines East 52-6 in their regular season finale Friday night in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians got off to a fast start, with Kael Kolarik running the opening kickoff to the Scarlets 8 yard line, but Indianola had to settle for a field goal. After a stop, the Indians drove it down to the 1 where Kolarik punched it in, then a special teams play on the ensuing kickoff put the ball back on the one where Kolarik got back-to-back 1-yard scores to make it 17-0 and the Indians never looked back. Brayden Wireman threw two more first half scores to Grant Hixson and Peyton Boozell, with Boozell bringing another interception back for a pick-six touchdown. A fumble recovery in the endzone by Wes Weatherall and a 1-yard rush from Brennan Meacham rounded out the scoring for the Indians, and head coach Eric Kluver said the win was a great way to send off the seniors playing on their home field for the last time. The Indians finish with a 6-3 regular season record and open as the No. 16 seed against No. 1 Valley in the 2019 4A Playoffs next week.
