Records for cold could be approached soon as a winter-like blast is expected next week across the region. After a warm up Saturday, daytime highs early next week will likely drop into the mid-20s, with overnight lows dipping into the single digits and wind chills dropping to near zero. A previous record for cold in Marion County on Veterans Day is 26 degrees, set in 1995. Long-term forecasting from the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center indicates a long-term trend of below normal temperatures for most of next week, typically, in mid-November, temperatures usually hover around 50 degrees during the day and near freezing overnight. For tonight’s Pella football game at Solon, temperatures around 30 degrees are in the forecast, with a wind near 10 mph from the south.
