Both Simpson Storm men’s and women’s basketball squads played well in their weekend tournaments, going a combined 3-1.

The Storm men edged out a win against Fontbonne 84-79 on the back of 25 points from Conor Riordan, 18 from Kyle Wagner, and 16 from Adam Reiter, then blew out Westminster 99-65 behind 20 from Wagner, but added 18 from Nick Janssen on 6-6 shooting from downtown, and another 11 from Parker Lange. The Storm men are now 3-1 on the season.

The Storm women got 20 points from Cassie Chubb in a blowout 84-63 victory over Eau Claire in their tournament, with four players in double figures in the contest and shot 48% from long range. Against La Crosse, the Storm fell behind 23-14 at the end of the first quarter and never recovered. Simpson was also without leading scorer Jenna Taylor in the pair of contests. They are now 1-1 on the season.
