Officer Darrel Brown with the Knoxville Police Department will retire Wednesday following 28 years of service to the community. In June, Officer Brown was recognized as National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Brown, who previously served in the National Guard as well as the Melcher-Dallas Chief of Police tells KNIA/KRLS News he’s made it through the past 28 years by going home at the end of the day, taking his uniform off and just living life. Officer Brown’s Retirement Celebration will be held tomorrow from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Knoxville Public Library Meeting Room.
