As the high school boys basketball season draws near, a noticeable buzz is brewing on Eagle Lane as the traditional powerhouse Pella Christian program looks to make 2019-20 a special winter.

Boasting one of the largest senior classes ever in school history, the Eagles hoops team has eyes on returning to Wells Fargo Arena and contending for a 2A state championship.

Head Coach Larry Hessing enters his 27th season at the helm of Pella Christian’s program, which has made 11 trips to the state tournament during his tenure. While talented athletes graduated last season, a strong core returns for this year’s team, as 2019 starters Dan Jungling, Jack Vermeer, and Josh Van Gorp and regulars Jase Amelse, Keean Cadwell, Isaiah Gritters and Ryan Vande Haar aim to get the Eagles back to The Well for the first time since the 2017 2nd place 2A finish. Pella Christian opens the season at ADM on Tuesday, December 3rd, a doubleheader that will kick off live high school basketball coverage on 92.1 KRLS.
