The Indianola School Board met in special and regular session Monday evening. The board first met in special closed session to discuss a disciplinary matter. After the closed session concluded, the board changed the early retirement policy to state that the retirement date can be set as the last day students are in school, as several teachers requested their last day be in May so they can collect retirement beginning in June rather than attend the remaining work days set at the end of the year. The board also reviewed the first semester class enrollment sizes, held a discussion on adding committees to the board that will be continued in a further work session, and set the childcare rate for 2020 summer and the 2020/21 school year at the same rate it was for this year. The board also discussed the online security controls for the district, and agreed to suspend the use of Google Hangouts among the district, as it was being used during school and for inappropriate messaging and video calls.
