The American Rivers Conference announced its all-conference football selections Tuesday. Central had 10 players make the list, including the league MVP. Junior quarterback Blaine Hawkins was named the American Rivers Conference’s most valuable player after leading the Dutch to a share of the conference title. Hawkins is the 16th Central player to receive league MVP honors.
Along with Hawkins, senior offensive lineman Cody Smith was named to the first team offense. Junior defensive lineman Blade Durbala and senior linebacker Tate O’Tool were named to the first team defense. Senior Jon Alberts received honors as the first team kicker
Sophomore running back Jason Hopp, junior wide receiver Erik Knaack, and junior offensive lineman Josh Mayhew were named to the second team offense. Sophomore defensive back Brayden Egli was named to the second team defense, and senior Hunter Robinson was the second team return specialist.
Central is 10-1 and will play at Wheaton Saturday in the second round of the NCAA playoffs.
Simpson had seven players named to the first and second teams.
Senior wide receiver Sam Bartlett and junior offensive lineman Mason Spree were named to the first team offense. The first team defense included defensive back Brendan Holmes and senior linebacker Michael Connor.
Junior running back Joe Meyer was named to the second team offense. Sophomore defensive back Cam Callion was named to the second team defense. Senior Zach Kreider was honored as the second team placekicker.
Simpson finished 5-5 on the season.
