While several girls basketball teams have started their seasons already, the PCM boys will officially get things underway next week. The Mustangs will open at Knoxville on Tuesday and begin conference play at Saydel on Friday. That will be followed by three games the following week. Head Coach Fred Lorensen says that it’s going to be a tough stretch, but his team is ready for the challenge.
“ It’s going to be tough. We’re playing Tuesday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday the first two weeks you can have games of the season. And that’s a really tough stretch. And the worst part is that, it would be really nice to have some practice time during that stretch, and when you’re playing, you just don’t have time to do that. So it’ll be interesting, and we’re playing some really good teams from the get-go. Knoxville is going to be really good, and our whole league is going to be tough. And of course Pella Christian, they’re going to be one of the best teams in the state in 2A like they normally are. So we got some great challenges ahead but I think our kids will be looking forward to that, and we’ll just go out each game and do the best we can and see how things go.”
KNIA/KRLS will broadcast PCM’s first three games. Tuesday at Knoxville will air on 95.3 KNIA. Friday at Saydel will air on the KRLS3 stream, and the following Monday’s home game against Pella Christian will air on 92.1 KRLS.
