This past October, Knoxville Fire and Rescue was awarded a $27,000 grant from the Iowa Fire Marshal’s office. The grant was used to purchase a new UTV and skid unit for the department which was delivered this past week. According to the department the UTV will be used for both patient transport and fire fighting capabilities.

Also in October, the department announced the acquisition of a used ladder truck from Clinton Fire Department in Clinton Iowa for $65,000. Currently Knoxville Fire and Rescue is awaiting delivery of the truck that needed to be repainted for use in Knoxville. With the addition of the new UTV and the upcoming delivery of the used truck, the department is hoping to lower the current Insurance Services Office rating, or ISO for Knoxville, a rating that is used when determining insurance costs for businesses and homeowners.
