Warren County residents were given a chance to hear from local legislators at the Warren County Lunch and Learn Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Run Golf Course in Norwalk. State Senator Julian Garrett and State Representative Stan Gustafson were present at the lunch and learn, answering questions from city and county officials, as well as local business owners and employees. Senator Garrett tells KNIA News these types of events are crucial because it can help with knowing the needs and concerns of his constituents.
“The most interesting parts of these events is questions from those attending, and at this event we had a wide range from school questions to local government questions on local bonds and TIFF, and we talked a lot about the problem of disruption of classes by students. It’s a very complicated question dealing with state law and federal law, and we’re going to try and address that in the legislature, try to do what we can to alleviate that problem. I’ve been getting a lot of contact from parents who are really concerned with what is going on in schools.”
The event was sponsored jointly by the Indianola, Norwalk, and Carlisle Chambers of Commerce. For more information on the lunch and learn, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
