The City of Indianola is moving forward with the Indianola Water Resource Recovery Facility Project, the name of the new wastewater treatment plant. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the facility has been in the planning stages for a long time, and the city council approved items at their most recent meeting that will take advantage of state funds.
“Council had a public hearing to review the application for what is called the State Revolving Fund, so part of the project will be funded through this program by the state. What this program allows us to do is fund the project at a lower interest rate, so it’s ultimately better for all ratepayers, those who pay a sewer bill.”
Waller also said that bids for the facility are expected to come back in mid-January and construction is expected to start this spring.
