The Pleasantville dropped a home boy girl basketball doubleheader to Des Moines Christian Friday, 69-50 in the girls game and 60-41 in the boys. In the girls game the Pleasantville girls would come out firing on all cylinders leading the 11th ranked team in Class 3A 20-18 after one quarter of play behind sophomore Adi Adreon’s 11 point break out. The depth of the Des Moines Christians would be the deciding factor however as the Lions were able to get more girls in the game as the Trojans seemed to tire in the second quarter before trailing by 39-28 at the half. Pleasantville would keep fighting throughout the contest but the Lions lead by junior Moriah Prewitt’s 33 points would be too much down the stretch and take the win 69-50. Pleasantville Head Girls Basketball Coach Jeff Cook tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he knew Friday’s game would be a tough one but he was beyond proud about the effort his girls put in. He says the Lions were bigger at every position and had more depth but the Trojans hung in and gave there all. Cook says his team was probably the only people in the gym that didn’t think they would be blown out so despite the loss his team should be proud.

In the boys game, Pleasantivlle would once again find themselves outmatched by the size and depth of the Lions from Des Moines Christian falling behind 21-12 after one quarter and 32-21 at the half. The third quarter the Lions would hit another gear and extend their lead by 20 before ultimately finishing the Trojans off 60-41. Pleasantville drops to 3-2 on the year and will have the winter break to regroup before their next game on the road at I-35 on January 3rd.
