The City of Indianola is continuing a process of removing Ash trees from city parks and city right-of-way areas after the Emerald Ash Borer was located in Warren County. According to the city website, Indianola has removed between 50-70 trees from parks, trails, and other city properties, and 75% of the 59 trees that were identified for removal have been taken this year. Trees have been removed from Moats Park, South Park, Pickard Park, the McVay Trail, and the Indianola Activity Center, with an additional 13 trees removed near city streets. The process of removing the trees will continue in 2020.
