When the Pella City Council reconvenes in the new year, there will be four new faces representing the Tulip City. Last week, new mayor Don DeWaard, at-large councilmember Liz Sporrer, ward two representative Calvin Bandstra, and ward four councilmember Dave Hopkins were all sworn into office to begin their terms January 1st. DeWaard says the new council will have to get off the ground running, with several large projects under consideration early in the new year, as well as the upcoming annual budget workshops. Agendas in January and February will include items related to the proposed new telecommunications utility. The four new faces join ward one representative Lynn Branderhorst, ward three councilmember Bruce Schiebout, and at-large member Mark DeJong. The first Pella City Council meeting with the new council will take place on Tuesday, January 7th at 7 p.m.
