Pella’s outgoing mayor is serving his last day in office today. Mayor Jim Mueller elected not to run for his seat in the November election after serving two terms as the city’s chief executive, following two terms on the City Council. Mueller is thankful for the support he received during his time in office, and for the chance to help the city move forward over the past 16 years.

“The one thing that I would say I’m probably going to take away from my years of service that will cherish the most is getting to know and working with some very dedicated people at all levels,” Mueller says. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know and work with all the staff, and they are a very dedicated, talented group.”

“I really want to stress to the citizens how lucky we are to have such a fine group working on our behalf.”

New Mayor Don DeWaard will officially take office on Wednesday; he was formally sworn in just before the final meeting of 2019. Hear more from Mayor Mueller about his time serving the City of Pella on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
