Pella High School’s state championship Jazz I program is preparing for the upcoming performance and competition season.

The group is coming off of its 18th Class 3A championship, and is working with a blend of experienced seniors and underclassmen full of potential.

Pella High School Jazz I Director Dameon Place says while they have several young faces, the older students have been helping them grow into their roles.

The Pella High School jazz program will host the annual Iowa High School Music Association state contest on Saturday, February 1st from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fourteen bands will be performing from around the area, including Knoxville and PCM.
