indianola-3

The Indianola wrestling squad took down the Grinnell on their home mats Thursday night, blowing out the Tigers 56-20. The Indians fell down early, but consecutive wins by fall from Camden Lloyd, Brennan Meacham, Caleb Watson, Miles Berg, Bowen Downey, Ryder Downey, Cale Crawford, and Cooper Belt, and a technical fall by Nick Bonnano put the Indians up for good. The Indians remain undefeated in Little Hawkeye Conference play, and compete in a tournament in Ames tomorrow.

The Indianola boys and girls basketball squads continue Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight hosting Grinnell. The boys squad has won six games in a row after dropping their first two of the season, and faces a Grinnell squad that has seen reversed fortunes. The Tigers started off the season 4-1, but has dropped their last four games and sits at 4-5. The Indians girls have a much larger challenge to overcome, with the reigning conference champions undefeated in conference play, and head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports Grinnell is one of the best teams the Indians will see this season.

“It is unbelievable to see how many three pointers they are shooting and they style they are playing. It’s gonna take a heck of a game plan by us, and the girls to be focused, energized, and committed. But we are excited for the great test. They had our number last year, and I’d be lying if that wasn’t something I wasn’t thinking about.”

The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off at 6:15.
