The Knoxville Basketball Squads return home to play Albia in South Central Conference action tonight. The boys have a huge match up with the Blue Demons as first place is on the line in the conference. Both teams are 5-0 on the season and the winner will be in the driver’s seat for the time being. Junior player Kieren Nichols tells KRLS Sports while it is a big game, he is trying to keep it in perspective.
Nichols:
“We’re not going to look at it lightly, but we don’t want to over exaggerate the importance of the game. We just want to go there and play our game, take care of business, and hopefully come away with a win.”
The girls, after grabbing sole possession of first place in the South Central Conference, plays struggling and 0-5 Albia. Coach Jim Uitermarkt, while knowing Albia’s struggles, hopes his girls can play their game and not give Albia confidence.
Uitermarkt:
“That shows if you’re not good and solid that night, they can put some points up. We’ll get better in the next two days, and it seems like we’ve been on the road a lot in the conference, so it’ll be good to get back home.”
Live coverage of the double header can be heard on 95.3 KNIA with the pregame starting at 6:15pm.
