The Knoxville Community School District will receive the 2019 Best Development Award from 1000 Friends of Iowa today during a special awards ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol Building’s 1st Floor Rotunda. The district is receiving the award for their solar energy project which is expected to save the district $8500 annually and reduce carbon emissions by 1,235 tons per year over the 30 year lifetime of the arrays. The award ceremony will begin at noon and will last until 1 p.m.
