A member of the Pella Christian 1994 championship baseball team and the only Eagle to take swings in the majors was honored for his career in baseball over the weekend.

Kory DeHaan was inducted into the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Saturday in Cedar Rapids. DeHaan was a key member of the 1994 state champion Pella Christian baseball team and followed his time in Pella at Morningside College, before he was a 7th round draft pick in 1997.

DeHaan says he’s thankful for the chance to come back to Iowa after a decade of coaching for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, and to share what he learned with high school coaches from across the state.

“I’m just very honored to have something like this be attached to me,” he says. “I know completely that it just wasn’t about me, it was about our whole team coming together and doing something special that summer (1994).”
