With the latest winter weather events reaching south central Iowa, the Indianola Police Department wants to remind drivers of several safety precautions they should be taking during the cold months. Captain Brian Sher tells KNIA News things drivers should keep in mind for future weather events is to not only slow down, but decrease your acceleration and deceleration, and increase your following distance on other cars from three seconds to five or six seconds. Sher also says the easiest way to avoid winter driving accidents is to just stay home. Limiting travel when you don’t have to leave the house makes it safer for everyone.
