wood-bowls

The Knoxville Public Library currently has wooden bowls for sale that were hand crafted by Jacob Howe from the ornamental Bradford Pear tree that stood in front of the library until the library’s recent expansion. The tree was planted in 1990 after an expansion project of the original 1912 Carnegie Library. Each bowl is $20 with all proceeds going to the Building Fund. Woodworker Jacob Howe lives in Oskaloosa on a 35-acre local wood preserve that has been in his family for more than 150 years. Jacob’s pieces are primarily created from trees that have naturally come down due to storms and wind damage. The pear tree continues to live on in the form of furniture and art pieces. For more information and to purchase a bowl contact the library, supplies are limited.
