Knoxville was not able to get its game in at Davis County last night, however, the Panthers will play tonight, albeit with a little extra on their minds. Today is the 12th Annual Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer game and not only do the games have more meaning, the entire day is a day to honor those who are currently fighting or have lost the battle to Cancer. Players Marley McKay, Maggie Wilkins and Tara Uitermarkt tells KRLS Sports the environment of the day and night is truly something special.

Marley McKay: “If you just love basketball, it’s just a good community thing to see and us and Chariton come together for a good cause and for a minute we put rivalries aside, and just make it a good cause.”

Maggie Wilkins: “It’s really cool to see people come out and support it, but also the ceremony is again is really cool to see and also the donations, and see people who really care.”

Tara Uitermarkt: “You hear about Coaches vs. Cancer is a big fun deal, but you really don’t understand how awesome it is until you get there. You just step into the high school and think wow this is awesome so it’s a really fun environment.”

KNIA/KRLS will be broadcasting live throughout the day from the Big Red Radio at Knoxville High School letting you know about all the activities and fundraising opportunities. The Panthers will also play Chariton tonight at 6:15pm. You can hear the games live on 95.3 KNIA plus the survivor ceremony in-between games.
