Friday night basketball coverage from the Tulip City will hope to match the drama of Tuesday’s games with the same four teams matching up.

No. 7 in Class 2A Pella Christian welcomes Indianola to Eagle Lane for Homecoming, while Pella hosts Norwalk in a clash of the top two boys basketball teams in Class 3A. The girls matchups will open both of those doubleheaders.

It was a pair of wild finishes between all four schools when the boys’ teams played just a few nights ago — Indianola and Pella traded big shot for big shot, with the Indians emerging victorious in a two point win, while Pella Christian fended off a 55-point, career-high night for Senior Phenom Bowen Born of Norwalk.

Pella Senior Point Guard Logan Shetterly looks forward to competing against the state’s best high school player for another round in what has been a highly competitive rivalry over the past few seasons.

“It’s always a fun game, and I mean the kid (Born) is unreal, and I don’t have enough good things to say about him,” Shetterly says. “The atmosphere here is just awesome and has been awesome this year.”

Pella Christian Senior Point Guard Jack Vermeer is excited that his team is finally healthy, with a lot to prove as they face a tough stretch of games over the next eight days to end the regular season.

“We played really well [Tuesday], I just hope we can keep the same energy and positivity,” Vermeer says. “The coaches trust us and we just trust each other, so we just got to keep playing.”

After both of the girls teams were swept by Indianola and Norwalk, both will look to bounce back after each faced difficult matchups the first time the Eagles played the Indians, which was a 55-29 loss for P.C., and the Lady Dutch faced Norwalk, which was 29-21 loss in a defensive struggle.

Homecoming is being celebrated on Eagle Lane, as the Pella Chrisitan vs. Indianola games can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, while Pella welcomes Norwalk on the KRLS2 stream, with coverage starting at 6:00 this evening.
