The Pella City Council will hold a public hearing to rezone a property on Truman Road at their meeting this evening. Council will review an ordinance that would change the zoning at 405 Truman from light industry to community commercial. An application has been submitted by the owners of Bruxvoort’s Decorating Center, who intend to move into the fieldhouse currently housing De Kinderen Huis. According to Owner of PRC Fitness Josh Visser, there will be a transition of the childcare facility into PRC over the next few months. Council will also review a resolution awarding a contract of just under $6 million to WRH, Inc., for wastewater treatment plant upgrades, as well as set a public hearing date to amend a development agreement with South Main, LLC, as it relates to the timeline of the $16.5 million housing project. Council will also receive a presentation from the State Historic Preservation Office about the Certified Local Government Program. Following regular business, council will receive department overviews from the Pella Library, Telecommunications Utility, Electric Department, and City Hall ahead of budget sessions next week. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 7:00 this evening in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
