The Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball Squad has had a few days to cool off from a busy week last week of Bluegrass Conference Tournament play. One thing the Saints have been working on is the free throw line. Melcher-Dallas lost to Mormon Trail in January by two points, and Diagonal last week in its final conference tournament game by seven. Coach Jim Wells tells KNIA Sports those losses can be traced back to not making shots from the free throw line.

Wells:
“I think we done some really good things, but in the close games we’ve lost we haven’t hit our free throws. At Diagonal we were 3/16 and at Mormon Trail we were 11/25. If you don’t knock down your free throws it’s going to come back to haunt you.”

Wells adds the guys seem to make the shots with ease at practice. He says they just have to translate that into the games. Melcher-Dallas will travel to Colfax-Mingo on Thursday.
