Bids were returned to the Warren County Board of Supervisors for the Warren County Justice Project, with the base bids coming in at just under $27 million. Supervisor Aaron DeKock tells KNIA News the bids were much more encouraging than the ones received last summer which totaled approximately $32-33 million, as there were multiple bidders on nearly every item, and hard work from the user group brought the cost significantly down.

“We’ve got a base bid package of sub $27 million, which means some real money came out of the building, some real cost came out of the building, which is a function of what the team did. What we were able to accomplish with a lot of hard work in such a short time, because getting to this date in the winter season, with a January timeframe was just critical, it was so important.”

DeKock also said nothing official has been decided, and there will continue to be work done on the project. A public hearing on the bids will take place on February 27th. For more information on the initial base bids, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
