For the 14th consecutive year, the Warren County Polar Plunge is raising money for Special Olympics Iowa on Saturday, February 29th. Teams of ten will jump into Lake Ahquabi in Indianola, with prizes given out for best individual costume and team costume. Warren County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Spurr tells KNIA News the event raises money for a great cause.

“There are a lot of individuals with intellectual disabilities and we want to raise money for awareness and so they can participate in more activities and be included. They participate with us in this right alongside us, and it’s fun to see the courage they have and it gives us courage and strength to keep doing what we are doing.”

Registration for the event is now available online, and costs $75 per entry with a t-shirt and meal included. Find more information about the event below.
