The road to Wells Fargo Arena begins for wrestlers around the state in classes 1A and 2A. Knoxville will head to a sectional in Albia to try to get several guys into the district a week from today at Knoxville. The Panthers will be joined by the host Blue Demons along with Centerville, Central Decatur, Chariton, Clarke, and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Coach Doug Hatch tells KRLS Sports a good day would be to get five or six wrestlers to next week’s district competition.

Hatch:
“We’ve got some kids that are ready to go, a couple kids they have to beat, some guy they’ve been close with, but I think they’re right there. A couple kids are going to be seeded in that top two, and we can get five or six through.”

The top two individuals in each weight class will qualify for the district in Knoxville next Saturday. Also, the top two teams will advance to the team regional duals next week. Today’s action at Albia High School begins at 12:00pm.
