The Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball Squad has a few more things to accomplish before the season comes to a close. The Saints will take on Moravia on Tuesday and Wayne on Friday before battling Ankeny Christian in the first round of the class 1A district on February 20th. Coach Jim Wells tells KNIA Sports he has got outstanding play from Lane Vanderlinden. He says Vanderinden started the season coming off the bench but has now worked his way into the starting line up and is averaging 13 points per game for the 9-10 Saints.
Wells:
“He’s got a motor that never quits and he wants to get on the floor and go, he’s diving and getting rebounds and getting steals. I think it just gives us a little more of a spark than before. We had guys who would get rebounds but the way he goes about it.”
Wells adds Vanderlinden gets along with everyone on the team, and that also has benefitted everything. The Saints will take on Moravia on Tuesday in their next game.
