The Pleasantville basketball teams hosted Van Meter Tuesday evening in West Central Conference action. The Trojan girls fell just shy of a comeback win, falling 41-40. Pleasantville took the early lead, and led 11-7 after one. But a 16-2 scoring advantage in the second quarter for Van Meter turned the tides in the Bulldogs’ favor. A 34-19 lead after the third quarter had Van Meter in position to cruise to the win, but a major comeback effort by Pleasantville fell short, as the Trojans outscored Van Meter 21-7 in the period. Pleasantville falls to 8-13 overall and 3-11 in the conference.

The Pleasantville boys were blown out in a 72-43 decision. Despite holding a 14-11 lead after the first quarter, the Trojans were held to just 17 points in the second and third quarters as the Bulldogs coasted to the win. Pleasantville is back at .500, 10-10 overall and 8-8 in the conference.

Up next, the Pleasantville boys will host Carlisle on Thursday to conclude the regular season. The Trojan girls have completed their regular season, and will await the winner of Colfax-Mingo and Pella Christian, who they will host on Tuesday.
