Construction of phase two of the Competine Trail Project is set to begin this spring or summer after almost 15 years after phase one of the project was completed in 2005. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director, Brandon Nemmers tells KNIA/KRLS News the addition of the trail will allow for more people to take advantage and utilize the trail. He says people will have plenty of room to walk, run, ride bikes and teach their kids how to ride bikes. He says there will be plenty of safe area for everyone and he says he wouldn’t be surprised to see area cross country teams and track teams take advantage of the trail as well. Nemmers says the construction company in charge of the project will have 70 working days to complete the project once construction begins. The project will start on the south side of the hospital and continue across Highway 14 going east and end at 5th street  following Competine Creek.
