The 14th consecutive Warren County Polar Plunge is raising money for Special Olympics Iowa in two weeks on Saturday, February 29th. Teams will jump into Lake Ahquabi in Indianola, dressed up in themed team costumes. Warren County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Spurr tells KNIA News people often ask for advice on what costumes to wear for the event, and his suggestion is find something you can relate to.
“We’ve seen people get involved with gear from their schools, whether dressing up as their teams mascot or wearing jerseys, something that is easily attainable but still makes you look unique. We’ve had Reno 911, Teletubbies, other cartoon characters and superheroes, it’s whatever you can create and use your imagination for.”
The event raises money for Special Olympics Iowa. Registration for the event is now available online, and costs $75 per entry with a t-shirt and meal included
