A Pella High School senior has joined the elite of the program’s storied basketball history.

Logan Shetterly scored his 1,000th career point against Grinnell Friday, and by doing so, became the 6th Pella boys player since 1995 to hit that mark.

Pierce Hibma has scored the most career points–1,301, in Pella’s “modern era,” as records are only available since Mark Core started coaching in 1995. Ryan Van Wyk was the most recent member of the 1,000 career point club, scoring 1,297 from 2013-17. Shetterly could pass Isaac Naaktegboren (1,075) and Kaleb Korver (1,107) before the season is over. Former NBA All-Star Kyle Korver scored 1,238 points at Pella High School.

Shetterly–who now has 1,006 career points, will have a chance to add to his total tonight, as Pella welcomes Mt. Pleasant to the Tulip City for the regular season. Opening tip will be at 7 p.m. at Pella High School. Shetterly will be recognized for his achievement during tonight’s activities.

Logan’s 19.9 points per game is currently 11th best in Class 3A, and his 103 assists are 5th most.
