After a near upset to end the regular season, the Pella girls basketball team is hoping to take that level of play to the postseason as they begin the Class 4A regional tournament this evening.

The 11-10 Lady Dutch welcome Oskaloosa to town to match up for the third time this season; Pella swept the Indians with scores of 67-37 and 62-51 during Little Hawkeye Conference competition.

Pella is hopeful to take lessons learned in a near road-win over No. 12 Grinnell into tonight’s matchup against Oskaloosa, as team leaders Courtney Thompson and Faith Diers say they can’t take anything for granted against their Highway 163 rivals, even if they are just 1-20 on the season.

“We can’t overlook Osky no matter what their record is, because they have been playing really well, and so we just need to come out and play really strong,” Thompson says.

Coverage from Pella High School begins at 6:30 p.m. this evening on 92.1 KRLS, and during the pregame show, hear from Thompson and Diers about the 2020 season.
