On a Saturday night when the Lady Dutch did little wrong on the court, Clear Creek Amana could do no wrong, at least when it came to shooting the basketball in a 75-59 Pella postseason loss heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
Despite the girls in green shooting near a season best from the field as a team against the No. 15 ranked squad in Class 4A, the hometown Clippers seemingly could not miss from the field, hitting nearly 70 percent of their shots fthrough the first three quarters.
Lady Dutch Head Coach Jerod Garland says while both teams aimed to bring their best to the floor with their season on the line, CCA was just a step better and able to find big bucket after big bucket.
“There’s a reason that somebody’s 17-4, and they just beat the returning 3A champs in Center Point-Urbana in their last regular season game, and that opens your eyes when you see that,” Garland says. “On tape, sometimes, you don’t get a good evaluation of just how good somebody is or their highest and the rate at which they move the ball–those are all things that I was really impressed with their team and obviously they couldn’t miss, they were lights out.”
Faith Diers finished with 26 points and four steals, while Madison Naig added 22 points. Pella finishes the season 12-11 overall and says farewell to senior Courtney Thompson.
