Two long time powerhouse basketball programs are hoping to break a state basketball tournament drought over the next several days. Both the Pella and Pella Christian boys basketball teams are in the substate finals in Class 3A and 2A respectively, as each looks to make their first appearance at Wells Fargo Arena since 2017. No. 9 in Class 2A Pella Christian will try to qualify for the 15th time in school history this Saturday at Marshalltown High School when they take on South Hamilton. Pella’s No. 2 ranked boys will attempt to make it to state for a 17th time in school history and 15th time in the past 31 years when they face Oskaloosa Monday night at Knoxville High School. Coverage of both games starts at 6:30 p.m. and can be heard on 92.1 KRLS, with the Eagles playing Saturday and the Dutch on Monday evening.
