New radio towers for Warren County Emergency Services are expected to be installed this summer, marking a significant milestone in the Warren County 911 project. Warren County 911 Director Doug McCasland tells KNIA News the new system will have better coverage, especially in hard to reach areas.

“We’ll have better coverage county-wide, but especially in the schools, that is something that we specifically asked for. It will just be better overall. The old system was very antiquated, and a lot of equipment had reached end-of-life, and it would cost us a lot of money to repair. The current system is on old copper phone lines, an old technology that is not conducive to moisture, so the new system will be much better.”

McCasland also said a target date for the end of the project is slated for June of 2021, but if weather cooperates that date could potentially be moved up.
