The Coal Ridge Church and Museum’s annual 5K Fun-Run and Wheel Barrow Race is coming up. This year’s race will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 9 a.m. with the Wheel Barrow Race to follow at 10 a.m. Director of the run, Todd Rowland tells KNIA/KRLS News the event is held to help raise funds for the upkeep of the church. Rowland says it can be expensive to keep a church that is as old as Coal Ridge Church up to date and open for services. He says there isn’t a large congregation like most churches so they put on the 5k to help ensure the church remains open. The deadline to register for the run is Wednesday, March 18th. Cost of the run is $20 if individuals register before March 18th and $25 after the 18th. Participants can also register for both the 5k and Wheel Barrow Race for $25 if they register prior to March 18th and for $30 after the 18th.
