Iowa’s Revenue Estimating Conference met last week, providing the final budget projection for lawmakers to work with whenever they reconvene 2020 Legislative Session and focus on the budget. The Legislative Session has been suspended 30 days due to concerns over COVID-19.

According to projections discussed by the panel, state revenue is projected to grow by 1.8 percent, or $146 million. That’s about $12 million lower than the December estimate, but current fiscal year projections were increased by $76 million.

State Senator Ken Rozenboom says there’s still uncertainty as it relates to COVID-19 and the impact it would have, but he believes the numbers show the strength of Iowa’s economy, especially as it relates to the current fiscal year increase.
