Several Pella Christian athletes have signed to move on to the next level and continue playing sports at college.

The first we will highlight in the coming weeks is a record-breaking thrower from Eagle Lane. Blake Veenstra has committed to Hawkeye Community College, a school he chose for multiple reasons.

In the week leading up to state qualifying in 2019, Veenstra ripped off a discus toss of 173 feet, one inch, shattering the previous school long with that throw at the Pella High Invitational, the final regular season meet. Veenstra then qualified as both a discus and shot put thrower at the state meet, with Veenstra placing 5th and 6th in the shot and disc respectively.
