While the seniors of the Pella basketball team were the key scorers and leaders of this year’s state qualifying team, the cupboard won’t be empty when the calendar hits November this year for the next season.
Logan Shetterly, Treyton Sturgeon, and John Oltman scored 45.8 of Pella’s 76.2 points per game, which was the best in Class 3A in 2020, and all three intend to continue their athletics careers into college.

But several key contributors are expected to return next winter, led by Juniors Grant Nelson and Josh Warner, all of whom started all season for the Dutch and were All-Conference Honorable Mention selections. Fellow junior Ryan Mace, and sophomores Karl Miller and Parker Elder all round out a group that could take another step and become as explosive as this year’s Pella team.

The Dutch finished 19-6 overall this winter and with the school’s 17th all-time state tournament appearance.
