It was business as usual–or at least as much as it could be, for the Pella City Council at their meeting Tuesday.
During a meeting held over teleconference and screensharing, the council adopted the 2021 fiscal year budget, which includes approximately $45 million in expenditures, maintaining of the city’s property tax levy of $10.20 per $1000 of valuation, and slight increases to water and wastewater rates as it relates to several ongoing improvements.
Council also approved the urban renewal plan for the Prairie Ridge Housing Development, and separate agreements to authorize not-to-exceed limits for financing the proposed telecommunications utility, Lely North American Headquarters urban renewal plan, Pella Municipal Airport Wildlife Fence project, and hard surfacing of 218th Avenue from Neil Drive to Shady Brook.
Council also scheduled a public hearing for April 21st to accept bids and award a contract for the Pella Fiber to the Home Network project, which will extend a fiber optic network to every home and business in the corporate limits.
