The PCM girls basketball team finished off tied for fourth place in the Heart of Iowa Conference. The Mustangs were 4-4 heading into Christmas Break, with some big wins and blowout losses.
The loss to Nevada heading into the break was the start of a five-game losing streak, which was the season-long. PCM responded by winning the next three, but could not string that many together for the remainder of the season. The Mustangs went 1-1 in the postseason, with a close win at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, and a blowout loss at North Polk. Head Coach Jeff Lindsay could not fault his team for losing to the eventual state runner-up.
“North Polk is just a good team, and it’s not taking anything away from our girls. But North Polk right now, just happens to have one of those groups going through, where they’ve got 10 girls that are basketball players. They are not just girls that are out for basketball, they are basketball players. You have to credit them, they just came out, did what they had to do, and advanced.”
The Mustangs finished 10-13 overall and 7-7 in the Heart of Iowa Conference. They’ll say goodbye to four seniors.
