Warren County Emergency Management echoes the recommendations from the Iowa Department of Public Health to practice social distancing and advice such as washing hands and using hand sanitizer, but Warren County Emergency Management Coordinator Troy Bass tells KNIA News his department, along with Warren County Public Health, is dealing with a situation unique to Warren County. Bass says unlike many of the counties bordering Warren County, there is no local hospital to coordinate with, so emergency services will have to go elsewhere.

“Everyone is pretty much in the same boat, except for us where we have no hospital. So we would have to transfer the ill to another county such as Dallas, Polk, or even down to Lucas County and use their hospital. We have health clinics who are taking patients, but there is limited access due and by appointment only.”

Bass also said some of the most important information he can pass along is to notify public health if you are sick so they can give you advice on what to do next.
