Due to detection of substantial community spread COVID-19 throughout Iowa, Marion County Public Health has announced new recommendations and new mitigation measures should be implemented immediately for Marion County residents. The Iowa Department of Public Health has set out specific guidelines on how businesses should be responding to the situation and to make every effort in the prevention and mitigation of COVID-19. The CDC recommends the following home isolation measures be taken if you are sick and if you will not have a test to see if you are still contagious. Individuals can leave their sick room and home when no fever is present for at least 72 hours and other symptoms have improved and it has been seven days since you started feeling sick.
With limited COVID-19 testing kits, local hospitals cannot test every patient that arrives at their facilities with possible symptoms for this virus. A screening process has been administered in line with CDC recommendations to better serve local communities to determine what measures should be taken. Marion County Public Health is asking employers to follow the guidelines that have been recommended by the CDC regardless of evidence of a positive COVID-19 testing in order to prevent further potential spread of the COVID-19 virus.
